*Please reach us at clinic@greatindoorsdpc.com if you cannot find an answer to your general question. Personal care questions should not be directed through this email address.
-Most appointments will be scheduled to meet in clinic, by video call, or by phone call. Home visits or other private spaces may also be appropriate places for us to meet, as appropriate.
-I am currently subleasing an exam room from Renew Family Medicine for part of the week. I am also exploring possible sites for a permanent clinic location within the Beaverton and Hillsboro areas of Oregon.
-I am licensed to practice medicine in Oregon, so patients need to be physically present in Oregon when establishing a care relationship with me. I am considering licensing in additional states in the future.
-I envision my ideal future clinic space to also function as a community health resource center.
-For those making uninterrupted membership payments, there are no additional charges for the time shared each visit.
-There may be small charges to cover the cost of procedures or testing supplies, but in many cases these costs will be included in the cost of membership.
-With membership, a limited set of labs are expected to be available once or twice yearly for no additional cost.
-Consider the following explanations when considering when or if to use HRA, FSA, and HSA money for our services:
-You can expect a comprehensive review of your health history, your current health needs, and your wellness goals.
-This visit should feel supportive and encouraging, refreshing and hopeful.
-You are encouraged to bring a health partner (friend or family) with you to this first visit.
-In the rare event that the time together at our first visit (or any subsequent visit) feels inadequate, we will schedule the next visit as soon as available.
-I am planning for some point-of-care tests.
-Our preferred neighborhood lab will be LabCorp.
-I am working on an option to dispense some common medications directly to patients for lower cost than insurance copay at retail pharmacy.
-Controlled medications will only be available by prescriptions filled at retail pharmacies.
-I will work with other DPC physicians in the local area to curate a list of reasonably priced imaging studies.
-Some initial point-of-care ultrasound exams will be available without additional cost.
-In some cases I will be able to reduce the need for you to spend time and money in the care of specialists. This will involve my learning to manage a broader scope of conditions. In some situations, I may be able to make myself available to join you at your specialty care visit, learn with you there, then bring that learning into our primary care relationship. This unique option is made possible by the DPC model.
-I anticipate having low-cost access to "e-consult" services with various specialists when my experience or skill is limited.
-I am also ready to provide traditional specialist referrals as needed or requested.
-Please note that some insurance plans may require an insurance in-network PCP (not me) to sign your referral orders.
-If you are aware of any local or nearby specialists providing cash pay services for reasonable prices, please let me know so we guide each other to these services when appropriate. Some specialists may offer "direct specialty care".
-Sometimes it may be reasonable to travel out of the area for a procedure or imaging study or other need. There are a growing number of reputable physicians and care centers who provide transparent and reasonable prices for their services.
-If I wasn't a physician then I'd probably be teaching human sciences in a high school or community college classroom. This interest leads me back to the desire to provide meaningful education and empowering support at each of our visits.
-I look forward to providing my patients with curated, high quality learning: professional resources, public resources that are patient-facing and patient-friendly, and a library of health-relevant books and tools
-Group visits allow patients with similar health needs or challenges to learn together and support one another.
-I generally recommend a patient bring at least one health partner (friend or family) to their personal visits, as appropriate.
